Khanh Hoa Hosts Inaugural Cow Cart Race in Vietnam

Exciting Race in Ninh Hung Commune, Khanh Hoa Province

The race held in Ninh Hung Commune, Ninh Hoa Town, Khanh Hoa Province has generated great excitement among both locals and tourists.

The competition featured six teams, each consisting of two men and one woman, racing on cow carts along a 1.1-kilometer racetrack that winds through picturesque rice fields and local roads in Tan Hung Hamlet, Ninh Hung Commune.

During the race, the participants were required to load the large straw rolls onto their cow carts. These rolls had been prepared by the organizer and were provided along the way.

Although most of the cows participating in the race had not previously competed together, they all exhibited a high level of energy.

The team from Tan Hung Hamlet emerged victorious in the race by completing it in the shortest time and collecting the highest number of straw rolls.

Nguyen Van Luc, the proprietor of the victorious bovine, remarked that he did not engross himself in rigorous training for his livestock. Rather, he focused on providing ample nourishment.

“I have spent a significant amount of time raising it to the point where it now follows my commands,” Luc stated confidently.

Pham Van Loc, the proprietor of a competing cow in the race, expressed that the event has brought delight to the community while fostering a sense of unity among its members.

“Engaging in these activities serves as a form of escape for farmers, allowing them to temporarily forget about the difficulties they face. Moreover, we are delighted by the increasing number of tourists who visit our hamlet to partake in the exhilarating cow cart race,” shared Loc.

A race of this scale and magnitude should be organized multiple times each year. The event would gain tremendous appeal by introducing team competitions among communes and wards.

The race generated significant enthusiasm among the visitors.

Tran Thanh Tan, a traveler hailing from Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, shared his unique experiences with us. “Having witnessed horse and elephant races in the past, I was amazed to come across a cow cart race for the first time. These mighty cows exhibit both size and agility as they sprint while hauling hefty loads of hundreds of kilograms, including carts and people.”

Overall, the content presented is quite intriguing.

The Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ninh Hung Commune, Vo Quang Binh, highlighted that the race serves as a platform to strengthen communal unity and promote community culture.

“I anticipate that the Ninh Hung cow cart race will gain popularity among tourists, ultimately leading to its expansion in other localities,” commented Binh.
