“Singapore Presents Scholarship Opportunities to Vietnamese Students”

“We encourage Vietnamese students to get Singapore scholarships,” said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam at the Friendship Exchange program with students of Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted on May 29.

The program is part of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam – Singapore diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The most discussed topics at the Friendship Exchange program are how to get into Singapore’s scholarship programs and the unique learning experiences in Singapore.

The Ambassador stressed that the people-to-people exchange relationship is an important pillar in the strategic partnership, besides economic cooperation.

Also, Vietnam has always been a popular destination for Singaporean students in exchange programs and study tours. Singapore always welcomes Vietnamese students to the country and its educational institutions. As a result, the young generations of the two countries will be the driving force for the Singapore-Vietnam relationship to move forward in the next 30-50 years.

“Vietnamese students are an integral part and contributor of talents to the Singapore education system. These students live in a diverse community, allowing them to build and develop a network of exchanges on a global scale. We encourage and expect you to apply for a Singapore scholarship,” said the Singaporean Ambassador, stressing that the Singapore government has many scholarship programs for Vietnamese students.

The Ambassador also introduced the local specialty in Singapore for students, encouraging them to try spicy coconut water vermicelli (Laksa) for authentic local experiences.

At the exchange program, the Principal of Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted Hoang Manh Du said that Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted has cooperated with Hwa Chong International School (Singapore) for many exchange programs over the past few years.

Du hoped that Ambassador Jaya Ratnam will help introduce Singapore’s universities and high schools to the students and cooperate with Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted. Through consistent cooperation, the school can access an advanced and modern educational program. The two sides can also exchange students and teachers in summer camps and short-term training programs.

Speaking at the program, the Vice President, General Secretary of the Union of Friendship Organization of Vinh Phuc Province suggested that the organization will work together with the Singaporean Embassy in Vietnam to help strengthen cooperation activities. The two sides will help connect Singaporean investors with Vinh Phuc province; organize many activities like mobilizing foreign non-governmental aid, and organize culture and cuisine exchange.
